Apple’s MacBook Air M2 combines performance, battery life and small size, perhaps better than anything before it, but it’s also more expensive. The MacBook Air earned one of Engadget’s best review scores for good reason. Apple opted for a uniformly slim design with the MacBook Air M2, finally ditching the wedge shape that’s been around since Steve Jobs. took one out of an envelope in 2008. That makes it more balanced, but also thinner and lighter than ever before at 11.3 millimeters and 2.7 pounds, less than an iPad Pro with its smart keyboard.
Apple also managed to slightly increase the size of the Liquid Retina display from 2560 x 1664 to 13.6 inches by reducing the size of the bezels, while placing the webcam in a (slightly controversial) display notch at the top. It comes with upgraded speakers and a MagSafe power adapter, along with a pair of USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 ports with support for charging, displays, and data transfers of up to 40Gb/s.

The M2 processor significantly increases performance over the Air M1, running nearly as fast as the 13-inch MacBook Pro M2. It boots up quickly, loads apps fast, and delivers snappy performance across the board. And you won’t have to break a sweat if you’re far from a power outlet, as it lasted 16.5 hours in our tests, enough for a plane ride from Los Angeles to Sydney.
